Barnutopia hosted its first Halloween Wedding last week on All Hallows Eve. Zoe and James tied the knot on a beautiful autumn day. The weather held out and the ceremony was held outside on the yurt field. Already married in a registry office, the couple regarded their Halloween wedding as the real celebration of their marriage.

Halloween Wedding Decorations

Zoe and James used Barnutopia’s black window sashes, banqueting tables, chairs, cloths and chair covers and dressed the chairs with their own sashes. Table centrepieces included bottles with carefully dripped wax. A variety of Halloween themed decorated the walls and beams of the long barn and the theme carried through into the indoor/outdoor Dutch barn. A plethora of pumpkins, some carved and some not, filled the barns and yurt field. Festoons of fairy lights completed the effect.

The bar company served the reception drinks. Next came a lunchbox filled with goodies prepared by the family. Later in the evening, a woodfired pizza food truck offered a variety of pizzas for guests as they sat around the campfires in the Dutch barn. The bride’s sister, Leah, made a spectacular black Halloween wedding cake with a gold skull cake-topper. The morning after the wedding, guests were treated to a Barnutopia pancake breakfast.

Autumn Weather and Contingency

As there was a possibility of rain, we made the call to use chairs rather than hay bales. After the ceremony, each guests grabbed a chair and returned them to the long event barn for the reception meal. The contingency plan was to place the arch at the entrance of the long barn so guests could still appreciate the beautiful back-drop of the Shropshire and Powys hills.
