Following a successful application for a marriage ceremony licence, Wedding fair and grand openingBarnutopia has opened its doors as a wedding and event venue. The official grand opening is planned to coincide with the venue’s first wedding fair. The mayor of Oswestry, Mr. Vince Hunt, is scheduled to cut the ribbon at 3 pm on Sunday, 15th April 2018.

OSWESTRY, SHROPSHIRE, March 16, 2018 – Barnutopia is a rustic venue for couples who want something unique, beautiful and affordable. Last year, owners Katrina and Steve Boydon put the finishing touches to the huge wedding barn and the new bathroom block. Over the winter they have refurbished a smaller barn and added more glamping accommodation. The site can now accommodate up to 120 guests at a wedding or event with accommodation for 40 or so guests and a campsite for the more adventurous. The couple are celebrating their success with a wedding fair and grand opening event on Sunday 15th April 2018 from 2-6 pm.

Visitors will be able to view the entire site, glamping accommodation and wedding barns and enjoy free samples from many Shropshire businesses exhibiting at the wedding fair. Barnutopia is aiming for a garden fete ambience and wants to mark the event as a very special occasion. Katrina approached the mayor’s office in the hope that Mayor Vince Hunt would consider attending to cut the ribbon. A spokesperson for the mayor’s office said,

The mayor would be delighted to offer his support by cutting the ribbon at your event.

Operating as a glamping site for under three years, Katrina and Steve have made steady progress since welcoming their first yurt guests in 2015. Since then, they have added accommodation, refurbished the old cattle barn, originally an army barracks at the Park Hall site moved to Tanycoed Farm in the 1970s, converted two stables into a bathroom block and refurbished a second barn for smaller events. A third, open-sided Dutch barn, is also licensed for weddings. Katrina said,

“After opening as a glamping site, we thought it would take five or more years before we could host weddings. However, we made a firm decision early last year that we would get everything done sooner rather than later. And we did it. We are absolutely thrilled with the response we have had from viewers and our first wedding this year is at the beginning of May. We have weddings booked as far out as 2020.”

Visitors are welcome to attend the wedding fair and grand opening and can find details on Barnutopia’s website and Facebook page.
