Is it possible to go from engaged to married in 30 days?

Absolutely. At least, it is at Barnutopia.

We are ready to help couples through the planning process, coordinating the practical details that matter on a 30-day timeline. Or maybe 40, 50 or 60 days.

How long would it take to plan your whirlwind wedding?

1. Sort out the legalities immediately

Did we say IMMEDIATELY?

If you want a legal marriage ceremony within 30 days, YOU need to complete these steps TODAY. Like, right now.

2. Breathe

Once the venue and registrar are booked and notice has been given, the marriage itself is secure. As long as you, your partner, the registrar and two legal witnesses turn up, you will get married. Everything else is about how you want the day to feel.

3. Create a checklist and target budget

Whether it is typed in Word, Excel or hand-written on the back of an envelope, a checklist ensures nothing gets forgotten.

A target budget can feel challenging on a short timeframe, but it helps guide decisions and avoid last-minute stress. Only you can decide what matters most to you. The shorter the planning window, the more flexible you need to be. Try our free Excel budget-planner template.

Once you have your checklist and a rough budget, start working through it immediately. On a 30-day timeline, decisions need to be made, confirmed and done as soon as possible.

✔ ItemNotes
Guest list and invitationsElectronic invitations save time and money and make chasing RSVPs easier. Make the RSVP deadline very clear.
AccommodationDecide whether you need onsite or local accommodation and allocate rooms early if you are booking a residential wedding. Barnutopia has quirky accommodation in fully furnished and heated yurts, cabins and stables.
Vendors & suppliersYou can choose your own suppliers to suit your day. Don’t forget to check the Barnutopia vendor directory. We areusually happy to take delivery of anything you order, so you don’t have to carry too much to the venue.
Wedding ringsThere is no legal requirement to exchange rings. If you want them, consider symbolic rings for the ceremony and buy lifetime rings later.
WitnessesTwo legal witnesses are required, aged 16 or over and able to sign their names. You do not need to decide in advance and can change them on the day.
Wedding partyDecide on your wedding party. Parents, step-parents, bridesmaids, best people, children, dogs and even horses have all featured at Barnutopia.
BridesmaidsGiving a colour palette rather than a specific dress is faster and usually cheaper.
GroomsmenThe same applies. Agree on formal, relaxed or mixed styles and keep it simple.
Wedding outfitsCustom wedding dresses or other outfits requiring alterations are unlikely to be realistic on a 30-day timeline. Consider off-the-rack, pre-loved, family or borrowed pieces. Existing suits or outfits can often be refreshed with new accessories.
Getting ready spaceBarnutopia has dedicated rooms in the farmhouse for Bride(s) and/or groom(s) to get ready.
HairDecide whether to DIY or book a stylist. Facebook wedding groups and the Barnutopia vendor list are useful for short-notice availability.
Make upAs above. Keep expectations realistic for availability.
FlowersA florist may be possible, but last-minute supermarket flowers can work beautifully. Ready-made buttonholes save time.
Barn decorationsBarnutopia has a decor den available for DIY venue dressing. Delegate set-up to friends or family to avoid overload. Alternatively, hire a venue dresser,
FavoursOptional. Simple, edible or locally sourced favours work best for short-notice weddings.
MusicDecide between a playlist, DJ or live music. Simpler usually works better for fast planning.
PhotographerBook one if you can. If not, ask guests to upload photos to a shared folder or photo-sharing site.
VideographerOptional. Decide early whether this matters to you.
Bar & alcoholDecide whether to bring your own alcohol (no corkage at Barnutopia) or use the licensed bar.
CateringSmaller weddings may self-cater. Larger weddings will need mobile caterers or Barnutopia event catering.
CakeA traditional tiered cake may not be possible. Donut walls, cupcakes or multiple simple cakes work well.
Final guest listChase late RSVPs. You need accurate numbers to finalise food and seating.
Finalise cateringConfirm final headcount and dietary requirements, especially allergies. Check cut-off dates to avoid paying for unused meals.
Table and seating planFree seating is fine. If you prefer a plan, decide how guests will find their tables and what signage you will use.
Speeches and toastsEven informal words feel easier if you plan ahead. Formal speeches are optional. If you don’t want speeches, there are plenty of alternatives.
Extra vendorsIf your budget allows, consider transport, entertainment, favours or small extras. Ask your venue what is already provided.
Wedding day timelineWrite down what happens and when. Barnutopia shares a Google document with couples so we can collaborate and coordinate smoothly.
HoneymoonDon’t forget to book it. Even a few extra nights at your venue or a nearby break helps extend the celebration.
Finalise paymentsPay balances and confirm details so nothing distracts you in the final days.
Enjoy your wedding dayAs long as you, your partner, the registrar and two witnesses arrive, you will be married. Details rarely matter as much as couples think.
