Holiday Cottages in Wales

First of all, our holiday cottages are actually luxury yurts. Tents doesn’t quite fit the bill. How many tents are fully furnished with power, lighting and heating  and come with their own lockable painted wooden front door?

Each of our three luxury yurts has real beds, cottage furniture and is the perfect base for exploring Powys, Denbighshire, Wrexham, Shropshire, Cheshire and Snowdonia National Park. It’s within easy driving distance of all Seven Wonders of Wales and multiple Welsh and English towns and villages, heritage sites, historic monuments, activities and destinations.

Secondly, strictly speaking we are in Shropshire, England. However, Barnutopia is located just outside the village of  Llansilin, Powys, Wales. The Powys-Shropshire border is the stream at the bottom of our garden. But clearly the property was in Wales, once upon a time. Tanycoed Farm is definitely a Welsh name. It’s more correct to say that our yurts are located in the Welsh Borderlands.

Why Luxury Yurts Instead of Holiday Cottages?

Luxury yurts are a comfortable alternative to tent camping. Sturdier and taller than most tents, yurts still have the feel of outdoor camping.  You are sleeping under the stars but, unlike tents or holiday cottages, the transparent roofs cap lets in the moonlight and starlight and, when it rains, the pitter-patter of rain on canvas is mesmerizing. There’s nothing like being warm and cozy in a yurt when the elements are testing.

Dining to order is also available if you need a break from self-catering.
